SWE Scholarships and Awards

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In fiscal year 2008, SWE disbursed more than 130 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $400,000.

Grants are announced in the late spring for sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students and late in summer/early fall for freshmen and reentry students  – each for use during the following academic year. Grant payments are made in the fall for corporate-sponsored scholarships and in both the fall and spring for endowed scholarships, upon proof of registration.

Certificate of Merit Program

SWE Certificates of Merit are presented to high school junior and senior girls who have completed at least three years of math and science courses with distinction.  The certificates are suitable for presentation at high school awards ceremonies or other events. Certificate of Merit programs are coordinated by local SWE sections or Members at Large, within their designated area of service.

If you are interested in the Certificate of Merit Program, have a teacher, counselor, or school administrator contact your local SWE section to find out if they participate in the Certificate of Merit Program.
